Peom I wrote for Creative Writing Class

//pantoum on cycles of love and friendship//

~~~~~~~~~~
I see his face,
It draws me in,
We talk a while,
Friendship begins.
It draws me in,
I start to feel,
Friendship begins,
Then love appears.
I start to feel,
I'm at a loss,
Then love appears,
I start to run.
I'm at a loss,
I see his face,
I start to run,
We talk a while.
~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm running right now.

I Got It!

I went in today for a job interview at Dunkin' Donuts, and I got the job! I was both surprised and not, because I felt like the interview went decently well and that I came off well.

I start tomorrow at 10 in the morning. :)

It's Over!!!

Finishing finals,
Is such a relief,
And finishing well,
Just cannot be beat.

just another jar of thyme preserves...

Bugs fly silently as words fail. I stare through dark sunglasses, trying to find the soul hidden in darkness. We're so similar, yet not at all.  To be or not to be. We get up; walk down a wooded path; blow dandelions like carefree children. And yet, in a way, it feels like a farce. We're not children, and we'll never return to the innocence of our youth. Our antics belie our reality. Time feels frozen, but I know this moment will end. The downy seeds that sprung from canary yellow will be swept away by the winds of time, of life, of fate.

My Brain, Currently

There once was a guy,
Who blogged once a while,
He wasn't consistent,
Or even persistent.

He really needs to read this book,
Or maybe even just take a look,
But he'll surf the web like Spiderman,
And slowly smother his grand plan.

Marriage

Christ and the Church,
A love beyond time,
This is marriage's,
Measuring line.

Simple Pleasures

Warm socks from the dryer,
Marshmallows on fire,
Angel food cake,
Apple crisp bake,
Donuts,
Peanuts,
Candy

Henceforth, I am planning on putting the working title of my poems into the post title, like I did here. FYI. I'm beginning to think that my blog will be mostly poetry in the future.

Wisdom (a poem)

Candlelight,
Shines so bright,
On a face,
Full of grace.

Round and lined,
Eyes half blind,
Soft grey hair,
Skin once fair.

Wisdom shines,
Through the lines,
Flesh so tired,
Mind inspired.

The Love of God

Looking for love,
In all the wrong places,
When really a Dove,
Should fill all the spaces.

I wrote this poem for a poetry contest last year. The person I sent it to replied that they liked the humor in it and thought I should keep writing poetry.

I didn't mean for it to be funny.

Another Poem

So, my New Year's resolution last year was to post one poem a week on my blog. I probably wrote enough poetry over my Christmas break to do that this year, but it probably won't happen unless my readers bug me. :) However, here's one that I just wrote today. I'd appreciate title suggestions.

I have a dream,
To find the gleam,
Hidden in the eye,
Of the broken and despised.

To know their name,
And feel their pain,
To love like Christ,
Whatever the price.

Haven't Written In a While... Here You Go

My heart is like a chunk of silly putty. God keeps attaching it, or I do, to people. Slowly, or quickly, (as case may be) I get drawn out, pulled into friendship with that person. Then, snap! God breaks the bond. It hurts so bad. I don't feel like I'm ever going to feel whole unless I become a hermit. (THAT would probably lead to insanity). It doesn't make any sense to me. But, I can't see the whole picture. Maybe that piece of me was what someone needed at that time. Maybe my whole life is destined to consist of leaving shards of my heart in other people but never feeling like I'm getting anything back. But maybe that, in some awful-seeming way, is the path for God to make the biggest impact through me. The only question is, what do I really want? Deep relationships with humankind for the short term or an everlasting relationship with God that does more for God's Kingdom and His people?

What do you want?
